SGB Championship Fours today at Peterborough

The Olympus Marquees Berwick Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope, Wooler) go into today's SGB Championship Fours at Peterborough with their only four available riders after the unfortunate situations last week which saw another season-ending injury for a brand new Bandit and a frustrating "in-out-back in again" situation that at least does see Berwick (and Scunthorpe) compete in the important national event at 2.00pm.

Berwick will not have Nick Morris in their fours' side as he has absolutely no option but to race for his Polish league side and Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen has been ruled out for the season due to injury leaving David Howe, Kevin Doolan, Jye Etheridge (who IS ok after a heavy fall at Redcar on Thursday) and Dany Gappmaier to fly the Black and Gold flag on an afternoon where the Bandits will be looked upon as underdogs.

Having said that several other clubs have had to suffer late team changes, withdrawals and injuries, so it's a far more open competition that many might first have though so maybe the underdogs will rise again.

The event comprises two semi finals of five teams over 10 heats, but with the traditional four rides per race, each team competes in eight of the 10 races and it's believed Berwick miss out on Heats one and 10, with other teams missing other races. The top two from each semi-final then progress to a more traditional 12-heat four team championship final to determine the 2017 Fours Champions.
