As the polar blast bears down on North Northumberland, the management of the Berwick Bandits are enjoying an early Summer as they welcome Aaron "Spud" Summers to the club as their first SGB Championship signing for the 2018 season.

The Australian-born 29-year-old from Adelaide, (who lives locally in the Borders) joins Berwick on loan from his parent club, the Glasgow Tigers, where he has enjoyed three fine years as their number one, a heat leader and club skipper. He also has had, at times, some moments of untouchable brilliance at Shielfield Park scoring points against the Bandits, while now his new club are hoping he can spearhead the 2018 Northumbrian team's efforts in the league.

Co-owner/promoter Scott Courtney expressed his delight saying: "Everyone at the club is excited to welcome Aaron on-board for 2018. He ticks all the boxes for us he’s a great team man, an ultimate professional and a big point scorer!

"He’s haunted us a few too many times in Glasgow colours and to have secured his services for the Bandits is something we are very pleased about. Aaron is based locally and that only adds to positive influence he will have at the club.”
