Bandits welcome Sheffield tonight at 7

On Tweedside the Bandits welcome the Sheffield Tigers to Shielfield Park tonight at 7.00pm, for the first battle between the sides in the Borders this year, but with the Tigers riding high after their 60-33 drubbing of Newcastle in South Yorkshire on Thursday, Berwick have their work cut out.

Berwick have won seldom few home league encounters this season to date, although the level of top class racing excitement has helped in keeping crowd levels healthy, and it's pretty much assured tonight will again see the best of action with Sheffield bristling with talent.

Berwick co-owner Scott Courtney said: "We have a big night in many respects tonight not least as we welcome our new Dane, Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen into the side for his debut meeting.

"He comes in for long term injury victim Lewis Bridger and has an excellent pedigree in the sport and can't wait to get on the shale tonight.

"Beyond that Sheffield have a fine reputation here and will provide more thrilling speedway led by Josh Grajczonek at number one and young Josh Bates who took a good second over Chris Holder at the British Grand Prix in Cardiff last Saturday will also be wanting to make a mark tonight."

Berwick: Nick Morris Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen, David Howe, Dany Gappmaier, Kevin Doolan, Jye Etheridge, guest for Lee Payne

Sheffield: Josh Grajczonek, Todd Kurtz, Lasse Bjerre, Josh Bates, Kyle Howarth, Jan Graversen, Georgie Wood
