Saturday night speedway is back, not only that it's back with a bang!

We were treated to some tremendous racing and Kevin Doolan rolled back the years as he roared up the banking to snatch the victory away from Aaron Summers at the death to rock Shielfield to its very core!

All of the Bandits showed great form during the event and I would hasten to add there might be an air of confidence around the Berwick team and it is easy to see why...

With Kevin Doolan riding like the oldest teenager in town and Aaron Summers showing the sort of form we all know he is capable of, things certainly look pretty rosy.

Not only that, Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen making the podium only proves his new mechanic is still marginally faster than him...but only just!

Jye Etheridge and Coty Garcia both showed plenty of pace and sharpness on the night and despite Shielfield Park being the biggest track in mainland Britain, both of them could have done with it being a little bigger after they got up close and personal with the safety fence.

Thankfully no harm done to either man or their machines, but there is a fair old chance that new undercrackers were required after their display of cunning stunts.

Dany Gappmaier wasn't going to be outdone by his team mates either and no doubt our resident Austrian will be looking to channel his inner Arnold Schwarzenegger and Terminate the opposition in 2019.

But...what about our young gun Leon Flint? His first race win at senior level and done in such style! Take a bow young sir, that was outstanding!

So with all the fun of the Bordernapolis out the way, the real serious stuff gets underway this weekend with a visit from our old pals, those Diamonds from Newcastle.

Since day one we have been welcoming the Diamonds to our home and if they could leave their line up alone, we will know what we are up against.

However, their revolving door of riders didn't produce the goods against Redcar as the Diamonds went down to a somewhat shock defeat to the Bears. A wounded animal is the most dangerous though and that means the Diamonds will be more than keen to avenge that result and put one over on us on Saturday night.

With a number of Shielfield specialists in their side, it could be a tough old encounter, but our boys have what it takes to make sure we can worry Worrall, clean up Clegg, Wethers the storm and send Lasse home to dull the Diamonds sparkle.

I simply cannot wait to get team racing underway again, so get your backside trackside and cheer on the Bandits!

Saturday night, 7pm, Shielfield Park, the place of pace and the place to be!

Of course if you wish to agree, or disagree with the Mythman, have an idea for a feature, or you simply want to chew the fat over all things speedway, you can email me Mythman666@hotmail.com. If your compliments, or indeed gripes can be contained to limited characters, you can send me a tweet @Mythman666.

Until next time...and there will be a next time.
