Now, I normally do my content for "The Dirt" on a Tuesday night, however due to a debilitating dose of the ever deadly "man flu" I am a day late.

I'm almost certain that half of you will sympathise with me and equally certain that nobody really noticed!

Anyhow, enough about me, whats going on in the world of our great sport?

Well Craig Cook has had arguably the best week of his career, winner of the Grand Prix qualifier semi final round in Terezano, Italy at the weekend, meaning that he is just "five rides away" from being a fully fledged GP rider in 2018.

Speedway is a confidence game and Cookie has it in spades, and he fully believes that he is capable of mixing it with the world's best.

He will get a little taster of GP action as he enters the Cardiff GP as the wild card, following his excellent victory in the British Final on Monday night, as he well and truly lived up to his pre meeting favourite tag.

While I have been somewhat critical of "Cookie" in the past, I have never denied his ability aboard a speedway bike, more his demeanour off it.

Strangely enough he doesn't bother me so much now he doesn't ride for the Monarchs any more!

Irrespective of opinions though, there was no denying that he was a deserving winner and he was the best rider on show on Monday night, and he is enjoying a stellar season.

British Champion, GP Wildcard and GP Challenge qualifier all within the space of 72 hours is quite a lot to take in, well especially for Cookie, but it is thoroughly deserved.

However, the "Cookie Monster" wasn't the only winner on Monday night, as we, the fans, were treated to some spectacular racing and great coverage from BT Sport, which can only bode well for the remainder of the season.

Well that is unless Jim McGregor is officiating any of the upcoming BT Sport meetings. Letting riders away with fliers in one race, pulling them back the next. But the less said about him, the better.

Ah well, at least we've got the top class banter of Kelvin and Nige for the rest of the season!

Of course if you wish to agree, or disagree with the Mythman, have an idea for a feature, or you simply want to chew the fat over all things speedway, you can email me Mythman666@hotmail.com. If your compliments, or indeed, gripes can be contained to just 120 characters, you can send me a tweet @Mythman666.

Until next time...and there will be a next time.
